Rags was asleep on the sofa, oblivious to the girls playing with their new baby dolls... Effie suddenly had an idea... "Rags is a lot smaller than your baby dolls. What if we dress him up, and he can be our baby??" "He should fit in your buggy much better.."

I've been working on changing all the old pattern tutorials so that they are actually on my own website, instead of linking to BJDCollectasy. It's taken a little work, but they are finally all done. So, check them out on the Tutorials page... I've also created several new albums in Favourite Photos 2018. Check them out.... And I've made the first 'Behind the Scenes' album, for 2018. I'm going to go back and look through my photos and create a 'Behind the Scenes' album for each year, and will add them to the respective Favourite Photos list for each year. I will also create a 'Behind the Scene' master file in the Photo Tips album, which will link to each year's 'Behind the Scenes'. So far I've only completed 2018 up to date. More will get added, if I remember to take them.
Holly and Nyssa's Grandma had given each of the girls one of her old porcelain baby dolls. "She's too big to fit in my buggy!" "My baby is huge too!" "I think I'd like something smaller to play with. One that fits in my buggy!"
I've been wondering if people would appreciate an album with all the 'Under Construction' posts I make on my Blog? Somewhere easy to find them? Like in a new section in Tutorials?
I'm also considering making an album in Photography Tips for all the 'Behind the Scenes' shots, along with the actual doll photo taken. How does that sound?? A few weeks ago I picked up another gorgeous sari at Value Village. It was heavily embroidered and beaded all the way around, similar to the one I'd made Bianca's dress out of. My first thought was to make another dress just like that, but for a larger doll, since the designs were too big for a smaller doll. The photo below doesn't give it justice.... I thought I better wash it to make sure it was colourfast, but it wasn't. I washed it many times, over, and over, even rinsing with vinegar to help set the dye, and although most of the excess dye had been removed, the water still wasn't completely clear. So the fabric shouldn't actually touch the doll itself. Which meant a lined dress would be safe, but it couldn't have hanging sleeves that draped over the arms. So I'm making two sleeveless gowns instead. In Iplehouse EID size. The beaded designs won't work on the bodice, so i will have to replicate it by hand afterwards. Also, I've had so much positive response concerning my Willie's outfit, that I'm going to try duplicate it as well. I've taken out all the same fabrics, but need a golden colour cotton crinkle gauze. Seems I used it all up for Willie's dress. I do have enough other coloured cotton gauze that can be over-dyed. Assuming Fabricland has some the right colour. Anyways, I thought it would be interesting to take a photo of my two costume models together, before I undressed them.........of my biggest, and smallest ladies together.... So now I'm off to Fabricland to see if they have some golden fabric dye.....
I'm still not getting any email notifications when someone comments on my Blog. This has been going on for a couple of months now, and it's very frustrating. It means I have to actually go back and look at recent posts to see if anyone has commented, or asked a question. It's not Like I get many comments in the first place, so I really don't want to miss them.
The biggest problem, as I see it, is when someone asks a question in a much older post - like from years ago. I used to get email notifications, so I could go to that post and answer promptly. But without the notifications there's no way to know anymore. I've been in contact with the Weebly HELP line several times, and each time they tell me that the email notifications had been turned off. Well, not by me. I never touched anything. So then they turn it back on and I get maybe one or two emails within the next few hours afterwards, then nothing again. I contact them again, they say the same thing, turn it back on, I get an email within the hour, then nothing again. If this continues I may have to move my website somewhere else. My son tells me that he can copy this entire existing website over, so nothing will be lost. But I hate change, and I will have to learn a whole new way of doing things, so I've set myself a goal this month to update EVERYTHING, so should I end up having to move my website, I won't immediately be buried with stuff to update. Might as well have it all ready beforehand. That includes adding the tutorials and patterns that I did years ago for BJDCollectasy. Back in 2011 and 2012 I did several for her, and my website only had the links to where they were put on her site. I figure enough time has gone by that I can finally put the tutorials up on my own site in their entirety as well. Makes it a lot easier for people to find them. Anyways, I need to contact Weebly again about the ongoing problem.....for the fifth time..... My favourite setting for doll photos at the Ruins Garden is the Greek Theatre. But that morning there was a professional photographer group taking photos there of models in bridal gowns. There was a big RV in the parking lot, and racks of bridal gowns being steamed into shape, and tons of photo equipment. So the theatre was out for a doll setting. But there's a big pillar capital sitting in the woods just north of the theatre, where I can pose a doll and still have the tops of the pillars in the background.... I just got down low enough that all the camera crew and equipment was hidden behind the pillar. Of course, the one model high on the back wall was still visible......but there was no avoiding her.... Bianca joined Miho up on the pillar... ..and a different angle to hide the camera man.... Finally one last shot of Miho, backlit with the pillars behind her....
A few pictures of Rex in his tux. I had found a second suit for him, and other than being a bit looser around the neck, and the sleeves being a bit too long, it actually fit him better than it did Lawrence who has the original Super Hero body.
It was when I decided to take a few photos of him, by himself up close, that I finally noticed his bow tie had been crooked the whole time up until then. Sigh So I fixed it.... |
