The righthand case has a selection of my favourite really old art dolls on the top shelf. The second shelf has many of my favourite art dolls. The third shelf has my Kaye Wiggs MSD girls and the 'Fairy Branch'. And the bottom shelf has my 'Magic Talisman' cloth doll group.
My dolls are mostly all back in the glass display cases. The room was repainted, and the cases rewired with LED strip-lighting to better illuminate the dolls inside. I wanted my tall BJDs to go in, which meant reducing one side to just three shelves to accommodate their height. I also wanted my Kaye wigs girls on display. All in all it meant losing 3 shelves worth of the dolls that were in my cases before this whole adventure began. All the felt dolls were given away at Christmas already. All the porcelain reproductions moved into my dining room china cabinet. And the early dolls that I have for sale went into the top of my china cabinet. Here's what's in the left display case now... The top shelf has some of my favourite art dolls, as well as BJDs Owen and Asa (Queen of the Night). The middle shelf has six of my MSDs plus favourite art figures. The bottom shelf has all my bigger dolls, and the Cat Cook. The smaller display case which used to house music boxes, now holds several cats from 'the White Cat' doll photo story, as well as six more BJDs. All my smaller Iplehouse kids are still in my family room for easy access, since they are the ones who get the most action these days. I still have a couple of art dolls standing on my dining room table that I need to find a spot for. Then everything will be finally be finished.
Heading home across the flower-filled meadow, Holly and Coco came across a little
old hag, who introduced them to her friend, a little green caterpillar.... Everyone can use a little 'pick-me-up' sometimes, so my group of little adventurers decided to take an ice cream break. But then some bunnies came to see what was going on.... "Want to try some?" What could be better for a tired little adventurer than an ice cream cone,
and a nice comfy log to rest on? I finally finished the 'Hobbit' costume I started way back at the beginning when I started the outfit for my new KID boy quite awhile ago. I chose Coco as my model, as he seems like a sweet, friendly sort, and the most 'Hobbit-like' of my three small boys. He doesn't have big hairy feet, so is wearing some nice boots for his adventures. I let him try out a sword - the one inspired by Thoran Oakenshield's sword from 'the Hobbit'. He decided swords were not 'his thing', but agreed to pose with it for a group shot with the girls...
Most of my dolls are girls, so now that many of them are turning to the 'fantasy side', they also will need to know how to handle a sword. So, as a special rite of passage, Aeran is presenting Elin with her own sword, made especially for her by Mason, the village blacksmith. The sword is one of the two smallest ones, at 11.5 cm (5.5") long. There are no worries
someone so young will hurt themselves, since the blade edges are not sharp. Kyle choses his sword, a miniature version of 'Anduril', sword of the King, from Lord of the Rings. The sword is 28 cm (11") long, and was forged from a large nail by Mason Leggee of Ravenrook Forge. The two smallest swords are versions of 'Sting', also from LOTR. The second one on the chest is a miniature version of Thoran Oakenshield's sword from 'the Hobbit'. All are forged from nails.
I'm taking photos for Mason, to help promote his swords, and I love how this photo turned out. Wishing all my fellow Canadians a Happy Canada Day! Our country is 148 years old today. Our flag is also celebrating it's 50th anniversary this year. It was rather cool, and it looked like it was going to rain, so even though everyone put on their most patriotic red clothes, I made them put on their sweaters. They wanted to pull their puppies in the little red wagon in the parade this year. Of course, no sooner did I take the photos, than the sun came out, things warmed up considerably, and the weather forecast changed completely. Now it's suddenly 'beach weather'. Summer has arrived!
