My Elfdoll Hazy head arrived this morning. She sure has been traveling - this was her third time across the Pacific! She was sent from Asia the day before the Canada Post lookout, so when she arrived in Canada she was turned back and returned to Asia. After the strike was over they sent her again. Hazy has always been one of my favourite Elfdoll head sculpts and is supposed to be the new replacement head for my Cuprit, creating my first BJD Hybrid - a Super Gem body with an Elfdoll head. Blushing can cover the difference in resin colours, but Hazy's head will need some major modification in the neck hole in order for it to fit on the much larger Soom neck. I've never been that happy with my Cuprit's face sculpt - reminded me too much of an extra large 70's Barbie - so hopefully if this works, my Super Gem will finally become beautiful and she will match the quality of my other two SD girls.
The first photo session with Layla and Miki together since they have come home. We went looking for a patch of nice wildflowers as a setting for the two little fairies, but none of the spots where the yellow vetch was growing in previous years had anything suitable, so we ended up down at the lake again in an overgrown empty property. The masses of yellow bird's foot trefoil, white fleabane and daisies made for a perfect setting for the two green Luna Moths fairies.
My Miki went away a few weeks ago for what was supposed to be a simple 'body blush', but she had a major accident - the matte sealer reacted with whatever sealer she was given at the factory and her finish went totally white and bubbly! What an unexpected disaster! Which meant she had to be completely stripped, cleaned and re-painted to try and recapture her original look. After some intense hard work, Charie managed to bring Miki back to her old adorable self.
Welcome back home Miki! I've made three new Favourite Photos pages from all the doll photos from our long weekend getaway. The first page is 'Luna Moth Fairy' with my favourite photos of Asa as a Luna Moth fairy in the wilderness. The second new page is 'Narae's Hike' with my favourite photos of Narae out on the rocks. And the final new page is 'Mother Nature' with Asa in my challenge outfit in various places in the wilderness. It used to be that I'd download all my photos after a trip in order to see how they turned out. That's still true now - I still want to download all my photos as soon as possible - but now the scenery shots take a back seat because it's the doll photos I want to see!
In addition to the spectacular scenery of Georgian Bay, some of my favourite photos from our little getaway are of my Asa in her "Mother Nature" outfit - especially the ones taken behind the RV in the lighthouse parking spot. The moss-covered rocks were just the perfect setting, with the browns and greens of her gown blending into the browns and greens of the moss, pine needles and granite rocks. I'm definitely going to have to make a 'Favourite Mother Nature Photos" page. And of course, no blog entry about Kilarney would be complete without a few scenic shots of the spectacular Georgian Bay coastline! First the red rocks at the lighthouse, and then the rocky coast as seen from my vantage point in the front of the canoe.....
We came back from our little getaway one day early in order to avoid the holiday weekend traffic from cottage country Sunday night. Even though I didn't get all the photo opportunities I was hoping for, I did get some great shots, especially yesterday. We had gone to the Killarney lighthouse just after sunrise and we managed to back into one of the two spots in the "parking lot". I went along for a 2-hour canoe trip out on the calm early morning lake. After going back and having breakfast in the RV, Jan went out canoeing by himself for the next few hours, while I knit, and took some doll photos on the rocks and moss behind the RV.
My Narae had her first "outdoors" photo shoot in one of her "Cute and Colourful" ensembles. Although she wasn't exactly appropriately dressed to be out hiking in the wilderness or climbing on the rocks, she did photograph quite nicely on the lichen-covered rocks. |
