Willie decided to throw a party to welcome the new Forest Dwellers. First to arrive were Mr. Ropuha and Tiana, who had offered to bring the drinks.... They found a nice comfy seat together, and discovered the cooler doubled as a great foot-rest.
I'm in the process of finishing the little Victorian hats. It takes quite a while to prep all the flowers and bows for each one, and then they all get hot-glued on..... Now to tackle the second set of hats with the gold, yellow, cream, gray and black flowers....
The wine barrel was loaded into the cart, and the was Unicorn hitched up (she still needs a name), and she was all set to make the delivery.... "Be careful, and have a safe trip!" "There goes the biggest order we've ever had..." ...and off she went.... *Just a little note about my camera issues. I've been having so much trouble the past few days, with the dreaded 'Error99' popping in, and the camera refusing to take pictures, or totally blowing them out when it does work. And once in a while between all the issues, it will take a photo or two. It started with the photos I was trying to take on my patio of the 'Victorian Veranda'.
I googled what to do about the problem and tried some of the suggestions to see if they help. My camera seemed to be okay for a few pictures, so we packed up the dolls and Unicorn and went down to the Lake to find a path through the woods. The camera started acting up again, and I only got two photos (the top one above), so we went home. I tried a few more things, and in the evening we went again. Again, the camera acted up, but I persevered and got a couple of photos. I love how they turned out, but am overwhelmed with all the camera issues. I was given it for Christmas back in 2008, and it was purchased 'used'. So it's absolutely "ancient" as far as digital cameras go. I think I really need to start looking into a replacement, but in the meantime I'm trying a few more of the online suggestions to see if any of those things help. This morning I tried a different lens, and a new memory card, which I formatted, and things have been working so far. I'll see if it continues to be okay once I switch back to my regular lens. I have so many things I want to photograph, and can't do without a properly functioning camera. It makes me feel so 'handicapped'. While Isis and her children were out on the veranda, their cousins arrived.... Holly and Nyssa were not only cousins, but they were also best friends, and they sometimes liked to dress the same... "Welcome girls!" Lonnie and Lisa.... Nyssa and Holly started to play with the dolls.... While Lonnie asked about the newest book Lisa was reading....
Last week the lily-of-the-valley were blooming, and Willie picked a small bouquet of them, then wandered through the garden....
Isis was enjoying the lovely spring weather, sitting out on the veranda crocheting.... "What are you making, Mom?" "I'm crocheting a little blanket for your doll buggy." "It's so pretty! My dolls are going to love it!"
Willie's team made a lot of wine, but didn't have the space to store everything while it aged, so some of the bigger orders needed to be shipped off right away. "That big barrel needs to go...", as Willie checked her list of orders.... Winston loaded it into the cart.... Winston was great for making quick air deliveries of the smaller orders, but this barrel was way too big, so it was going by surface - Unicorn Cart - delivery..... Tillie checked to make sure the barrel was secure... "This is our biggest order..." "..and I want to make sure it gets there safely..." "Where is it going??" "It's for Old Nick. You know, the Wizard who has a summer home down by the lake..."
Jan gave me a beautiful bouquet of pink roses for Mother's Day, a few weeks ago.... They lasted for well over a week, then the flowers started to droop, and the petals started to dry up. I thought they still looked beautiful and wanted to use them in some Flower Fairy pictures.... The dried roses gave the photos a certain, old-fashioned, watercolour feel, that reminded me of Cecily Barker's Flower Fairy illustrations....especially some of the close-ups.....
