I had Yvette's golden gown just lying around, and decided to try it on Rosie, since she was standing all by herself in the display case, stuck back in Outlander time.... I thought maybe she could be a Lady in Waiting to the Queen, but she doesn't look the part. I did some photos of the two Raccoon ladies together.... That's when the difference between the two of them really struck me. I've always loved Monica, and felt she fitted in fine with my Iplehouse crew. Maybe it's her wider open eyes. Rosie's eyes, on the other hand, are narrower and more squinted..... .... and make her look like her thoughts are elsewhere and she's planning something, and not necessarily something good. She definitely does not look like Lady-in-Waiting material. In fact I'm finding the golden gown deceptively 'innocent' looking on her. Maybe she needs something darker? And then she can be the Queen's sister. Maybe even an evil sister. I don't know. I'm still trying to figure some of these ladies out. Then I took a photo of my entire medieval group.... The only doll missing is Miho. At some point she will need something Medieval as well, so she can fit in too. I just don't know what.....yet.
I made a Medieval cap and a feathered hat to complete Yvette's blue gown. I also thought I'd try some different wigs on her, to see if she really wanted to be a blonde or not. I don't have many wigs her size - just two others that might work. First a straight dark brown.... Then she reminded me of 'Juliet'.... Then I tried the lighter brown wig.... Then I redid the lacing on the front of her dress, and gave her the blonde wig back. I did like her with the other two wigs - she looks beautiful in all of them - but I think I prefer her as a blonde....
I was filing away the 'Smile for Today' photos in the album in Favourite Photos, and noticed that I'd forgotten to post these two photos here a while back. I post the Smiles for Today in three separate places everyday, so must have missed posting them here. So here they are now..... Miki relaxing in the dandelions on 'No Socks' day.... Making dandelion wine.... *Story - Here
One of the things I'm most disappointed about this spring is that I don't have the opportunity to take doll photos in the field of scillas blooming along the townline. It's been an annual event, going over there with all kinds of dolls, trying to come up with new shots every year. And then there was also the new spot along the lake at Petticoat Creek which we discovered last year. But I don't drive and Jan isn't allowed to, so there won't be any opportunity at all this year. Which means I have to make do with what I have blooming in my own backyard. Even though I do have two small areas where I have scillas blooming, the background behind them is far less than ideal. But I was determined to try anyways. So I took Grace and her horse out yesterday.... There's only a very narrow view across the lawn where the background looks remotely 'natural', and it still needs considerable blurring to camouflage the big wooden fence.... But considering it was this or nothing, I thought the photos were quite successful....
