I got the idea originally from a tutorial by Ira Scargeer, but found using tulle was extremely messy and frustrating. Until I figured out a way to make it much easier. So, here you go....
I've put up a tutorial for how I make a hard wig cap. It's just for the cap itself. I will be adding tutorials to show how I add the hair when I make a wig. However adding the hair is anything but an exact science, so I thought I'd share the making of the cap first.
I got the idea originally from a tutorial by Ira Scargeer, but found using tulle was extremely messy and frustrating. Until I figured out a way to make it much easier. So, here you go.... I took some photos of my David this morning. He's a KID Daisy boy. I had envisioned him as an older brother for Ringo, thinking that a happy-go-lucky older brother might be just what my serious little Ringo needed. I had wanted to get the same auburn 'Johnny' wig, but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere. So I had to make him a wig myself. It's a hard cap wig with mohair curls....
I'm so disappointed today. Most of the crocuses that were blooming out front yesterday have disappeared. All the flowers are gone! And there were a lot of them. Looks like something ate them, so I googled it. Seems both rabbits and squirrels will eat crocus flowers. And we have both. Good thing I took some photos yesterday..... ....but I had been counting on taking more today..... And here I was all excited to see those first flowers of spring! The truly sad part is that it will be a whole year before they bloom again. It's bad enough that we have to battle the Japanese beetles all summer, but now the spring flowers are falling victim to being eaten as well. I just hope the last few flowers that were ignored, stay ignored.....sigh.....
I have one Willie outfit still available. The Winter Berry set for $69. US plus shipping...
The sun came out this morning, and all the crocuses out front burst into bloom, so I had to go take some photos....
I went to Charie's this afternoon to pick up three of my dolls. She was able to remove the tiny white spot on Rex's nose without any damage to his faceup. Yay!! She painted David (my Iplehouse KID Daisy boy) and Phairby the House Elf from DreamHigh Studio. Phairby looks like an elegant little lady now. She has the cutest paint job, with age spots all over. Charie gave her eyelashes, and they just make her eyes sparkle. She also pierced her ears and made her some tiny earrings. So as soon as I got home I dressed her in the Monarch Fairy outfit, and took her outside for some quick photos.... I dressed David, and he looks really good too, but I'm not going to taken photos of him until I make him a wig.
Still procrastinating, I've updated a lot of the albums in Favourite Photos 2019 Newly completed albums include.... I also started several new albums, which will have new photos added as they are taken.... And speaking of procrastinating, Charie has finished painting two of my dolls, so I'm heading over there this afternoon to pick them up. Then I'll have yet another reason to procrastinate! I suspect there will be new photos coming soon. I mean, how can I resist that?? Spring is upon us today, and dozens of the early crocuses are in bloom, so Willie went for a little walk with her new friend....
I haven't been particularly busy taking doll photos this week. Not only was I working on finishing six little Willie outfits, but I also have a bunch of projects hanging over my head that I'm not the least bit enthusiastic about doing, and that totally kills any creativity. Plus I spent two hours in the dentist chair this morning. Which reminded me that I also had a date with the dentist two years ago today, and that visit actually inspired some photos..... "Would you like something cold for your pain??" After six hours, the freezing is finally out, and thankfully I'm not experiencing quite the pain as last time. Even so, today I'm perfecting the art of procrastinating doing the things I don't feel like doing. Like making two wigs. My David is away for a faceup, and will need a wig when he comes home. I thought I'd go the easy way and buy one, but no one has the wig I want in the right colour. Which I suppose is 'good news' since he would look better with a homemade wig anyways. And then there's Isis who needs a better Victorian hairdo. I crocheted a wig cap with little 'side-burns', in the hopes of making a more realistic upswept hairstyle. And I emptied the entire mohair drawer and went through all the bags of different colours and lengths, to help me decide which ones I'm going to use..... Then there's one last project which is really messing up my creativity. I had agreed to paint yet another custom train set for Christmas, but I didn't come through. Now I'm staring at an upcoming birthday which I really need to make it for. Seven days to go, and have I even started?? No. I know I should just buckle down and do it, so I can get back to fun things, but that kind of logic isn't working. So nothing is happening. I guess I better just force myself to start.....so I can get back to taking fun doll photos....
I've been stalled long enough.... I've been busy sewing tiny outfits for Willie, so there's been no time to take any new doll photos. I'm making six little outfits, three of each design. The dresses were done, and the hats were sewn. Then I had to wet and braid the hair. The blonde ones are for my own Willie. The ones for sale have white hair, to better match the white eyebrows most people's Willie's have. All the hats got lace ruffles on the back edges, and black silk ribbon ties. Then all the tiny pantaloons were sewn.... ...and finally one of each design was done..... Willie also has some proper shoes now. I ordered several pairs from AliExpress.
They are 3.5 Mini Shoes for BJD Joint Blythe, and fit over socks.... |
