So, first in the 'Toilet Paper Chronicles'.....as seen in the household supplies section today...
...Stocking Up.....
I've decided to start a photo series on the current new fad of toilet paper hoarding. Like, why toilet paper?? Oh well, it makes for a good topic to have some fun with....after all, we could all use a smile or two.....
So, first in the 'Toilet Paper Chronicles'.....as seen in the household supplies section today... ...Stocking Up..... I still have the Tavern set up on my dining room table, waiting for me to finish shooting photos with three of my guys. And then Rex and Baron moved in as well, just so they'd be out of the way in my workspace. So I thought I'd take some photos to see how the two different sizes of dolls actually work together..... I think that as long as the JID guys are in the background and the FID guys are in the foreground, the depth of field makes all their heads look approximately the same size. The JIDs definitely look younger, but at least they can help fill in the background.
Who would ever have guessed that I'd be making cats again after 30 years? Not me. But I had the idea to do a sequel to an old doll photo story, and thought of finally making up an unfinished cat figure I've had in the cupboard for years - my sister was giving it away at our doll club back then, and I had plans for it, which never materialized. Then talking with a friend about the first cat I was working on, she said she also had one of my sister's cats, also given away at the doll club, and she would send it to me if I wanted it. Yes, definitely, please!! Turns out her cat was an unpainted sample my sister had made for her cat-sculpting workshops. It is a very nice sculpt, perfect for a young servant girl, or maid, in my story. So I took out all the other cats to see what colour I didn't have yet, looked online for reference photos, and decided on a gray tabby. Then set to work. A few hours later, and she was painted.... Not bad, if I do say so myself! Now to make her a body and dress her.
With the world gone nuts hoarding toilet paper, I thought I better make sure my kids don't run out, so I made a whole bunch.... I think there should be enough for now..... ...and just in case it continues into the summer, I made some special 'Rapid Dissolving' for use in RV septic systems.... *Only two are real rolls - the same ones I've been using for years (yes, a roll does last that long around here). All the packaged rolls are made from slender paper tubes that I've saved. They were cut to length (for double and triple roll stacks), the ends traced onto cardboard, cut out and a hole punched in the middle, then glued onto the end of the rolls. I trimmed off any excess cardboard, and painted the edges white. Then I sponge painted the rolls with white and cream paint to simulate the texture of the real rolls. I found the labels on the Internet, scaled them to size, printed them out, glued them onto the double rolls, and covered them all with plastic wrap.
One can make s'mores anytime when one has a dragon for a friend..... "I think mine is a little overdone...."
I've been working on a knight outfit for Rex the past two weeks, and I'm almost finished. It's just that I've run out of the 'Empress Connector' beads that I'm using as 'clasps'. I only had eight, so used them on his surcoat. He still needs four more on it, as well as another six for his wrist guards. So I ordered some online yesterday. The company said they were being discontinued, so bought all that they had. Anyways, while I wait for them to come so I can finish his outfit, I decided to take a few photos of him anyways..... He has a tunic of blue brocade, and I used a dark gray synthetic 'leather' for his surcoat, which photographs on the blue side. I used chainmail from a silver clutch purse, and figured out how to make a rounded collar out of it. I'm guess it's actually aluminum as it's a very shiny silver colour. Baron invited him to the Tavern.... "Cheers!!"
Cinnamon contemplates whether she should help the others out of the fairy trap, or eat all the brownies herself..... Overheard at the salad bar......
"Mom says we need to make vegetables our friends, but I don't want to eat my friends..." |
