are now in an album entitled 'Winter Adventures' in Favourite Photos 2016,
I've been catching up, making new albums with all the photos I've taken so far, and there were a few more photos from our little adventure up north that I've not shared here yet. Bundled up against the cold.... All the photos of my little Fantasy gang out in the snow and ice,
are now in an album entitled 'Winter Adventures' in Favourite Photos 2016, Leona, Isar, and Soa posed with their masks for my new updated Mardi Gras Mask Tutorial. The original mask tutorial was created back in 2011 for BJDcollectasy to host on their site, where
it was put into a 'video' format. But when I made the four new MSD masks, I thought I'd take photos, and update the tutorial adding the patterns for the new MSD-sized masks and provide the instructions in a scroll-down format. So now there are two options for the Tutorial. Here's my girls with their masks.... I'm busy trying to take photos of my JID girls with their masks, and would like an elegant interior, but those are a real challenge, so I'm having to make do with my dining room as a background setting. While I'm at it, I'm also taking group shots of all my Iplehouse JIDs. I've not taken a group shot with all of them for a couple of years, and back then I only had four, so it was high time to do it again. Here's the four from January 2013. Isar and Kyle have remained the same, while Kassia's wig was replaced, and Asa was given a complete makeover. And then there were the three new additions; Soa, Owen and Leona. Here's my whole group today.... And just the five ladies.... From the left: Leona, Isar, Soa, Kassia, and Asa Leona is the only doll who has a 'contemporary persona' and she's only fitting in at the 'Masquerade' by borrowing Lily's Summer Goddess outfit, which looks so beautiful on her she may not want to give it back. But it fits Lily better, so maybe Leona will need a special outfit of her own. Since she and Owen are a 'pair', and he's a Musketeer, maybe Leona needs a period gown from that same time. But then, who says costumes have to match historically or period-wise? Make them all a mask and they can attend a Masquerade party wearing whatever fancy outfit they have on. If I had the space, what other JID sculpts would be nice to add to the group? Well, maybe a light brown Bennie, a Violet, and maybe another Asa. As beautiful as this Asa is, I do miss her old look sometimes. She was also my very first Iplehouse doll. Since I have Leona in Lily's 'Summer Goddess' costume, I thought I'd take some photos of her with the dragon as well. There's several groups where I can only share photos of Iplehouse dolls, so I figured it was worth the effort.
I had found a tapestry placemat at Value Village, which I thought might make a nice background wallhanging, but it turned out a bit too busy unless it was blurry in the background. Only problem is, I hang my background stuff off of the chandelier over the dining room table, and the table itself can only be pushed so far towards the window before the tripod will no longer fit. What I needed was a track on the ceiling so I can slide the chandelier back and forth, but that's not ever going to happen. So that meant blurring the background in Photoshop instead. I was very happy with the photos. Leona and Winston work very well together.... This morning when the girls came over, we tried making some St. Patrick's Day finery. I had thought they'd be able to handle some minimal sewing, and one could, while another was terrified of the needle and pouted until it was done for her. Because that didn't go very well, I sewed the elastic on their hats myself, although the girls did manage to gather the tulle for the hat decorations.
I had thought 7 to 9 year-olds could tie a simple knot, so had pre-cut strips of tulle which they were supposed to tie onto an elastic waistband. But since kids no longer have to tie their shoes - or anything else - only one girl could tie a knot at first, although the other two did pick it up eventually. It would seem that developing fine motor skills in kids seems to have gone the way of the dodo. However, all three girls were quite happy with the results. So we took a few pictures. To end this series of icy photos, I want to share just one more - of my helper making some final adjustments. I'm so glad we went up north last weekend to take the photos with the ice. It's been so warm
all week that all our snow has completely melted and my crocuses are actually blooming. Winter is over, and spring has begun! I've finally finished putting all the photos of Tedros and Carina in an album in
Favourite Photos 2016. Just click on one of the photos below to take a look... |
