Today, February 7th, is 'Send a Card to a Friend' Day, so Lisa was trying to write some cards.... Then Elin and Nyssa interrupted her....."What are you doing??" "I'm trying to write some cards to my friends..." "These look really pretty..." "Could me and Elin write one to our friends too??" "Sure, you can each take one..." "I like this one!" "And I like this one... 'What should we write??" "I don't know.." 'Well, you girls think about it, and come back when you know...: "Now, where was I??"
Willie was all bundled up, travelling through the snowy woods.... She was going to a birthday party....
Yesterday morning was my six-month appointment with the eye specialist, and the eye drops they use mess with my eyesight for the rest of the day, so I couldn't really do anything. In late afternoon, once I could start to see again a little bit, I thought I'd make a few more party hats and some new presents, so I'd have more variety to choose from for an upcoming party. The party hats are made from a cone of either gift wrap or scrap-booking papers, with strips of fringe cut from coloured tissue paper. I even have some for my really tiny dolls... For gifts, I either use existing tiny boxes, or make little boxes from cardboard. Then they get wrapped with small print scrap-booking paper, tied with a ribbon, and get a miniature bow hot-glued on top. These are the six new ones I made yesterday.... As to the ribbons....whenever I get a gift with 'curly' ribbon, I take it, split it down the middle to make it narrower, and then curl it with the edge of my scissors. I store all the curled ribbons in a zip-lock bag so it's handy for whenever I need some - like to tie onto balloons for parties. I keep the really long curly ribbons - for suspending clusters of balloons from the dining room chandelier - in a separate bag, so I don't have to search for them every time, but can just pull out the appropriate colours in keeping with a party's colour scheme. I buy the tiny gift bows when I see them (usually at Michaels) and keep them in a separate baggie inside the ribbon bag. Before cleaning it all up, everything looked so colourful and festive that I had to take a picture... Let the party begin!!
The journey home had begun... To help pass the time, Papa started to sing... " Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way......." "Take us home Ruben!!" Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and wonderful 2019! Hope you enjoyed a "Gnome Family Christmas." The entire story can be revisited in Favourite Photos 2019, anytime, although it is a little different there. I've posted my sister's version here in my Blog, but went with the storyline as I had envisioned it in the Gnome Family Christmas, and also added a few more photos.
I finished Phairby's dress, then made her a matching hat, some wings, socks, pantaloons, and the mandatory magic wand. Then it was time for some photos.... Her outfit reminds me of a cross between the Fairy Godmother in Disney's animated Cinderella, and the three good fairies in Sleeping Beauty... Now she just needs to be painted
With their Holiday visit with Oma finally come to an end, Papa packed up the family, and was ready to leave for the trip home. Oma: "Do you have everything?" Everyone was all settled in and it was time for final goodbyes. Mama: "We've had a wonderful time! Thanks so much for having us over." Oma: " Now, keep those babies warm." "And we're off!" Oma waved goodbye as they headed off.
"Thanks for coming! Safe journey! Love you!" It was the morning after all the Holiday celebrations and Mama and Papa decided to take down some of the decorations and help get Oma's house back in order.
With the piñata finally spilling all its candy... The girls scrambled to pick it up.... Effie's Mom handed out some bowls to make it easier to collect the candies... Some of the girls were more interested in gathering the candies.... ..while others just started eating them right away.... But soon, a couple started to feel unwell.... Nami had eaten too much... ..and Olivia's tummy wasn't feeling so good either.... "Maybe we should just finish picking up all the candy, and save it for later.." "That was such a beautiful piñata! It's too bad they have to get wrecked..."
It didn't take long before Opa figured out what the problem was. "There, that should do it." While the others were occupied, Pieter was enjoying his evening, and some Dutch treats.... Oma reset the time, and was so happy to have her favourite clock working again. "Perfect. Thank you Opa. Mama: "It's been such a wondferul day and I hate to see it end, but I see it's getting late. So I think we should go to bed. Tomorrow is another full day
February 2nd is 'Eat Ice Cream for breakfast' Day, and the boys were only too happy to comply.. "Ice cream isn't for breakfast! You need something more nutritious!" "But this ice cream sandwich has milk, whole wheat, eggs, and cocoa..." "So does mine. And this sundae has strawberry sauce." "And mine has a big banana!" "But cereal with milk is what you are supposed to have for breakfast!" "Here, let me see that!" "Have you ever read to see what's in this? Mostly sugar, and all kinds of ingredients I can't even pronounce. It's just sugar-covered cardboard!" "Okay, you convinced me! Move over! I'm going to join you! "At least one of these has nuts!"
