One day, as they headed deep into the mountains...
They noticed a large eagle, who seemed to be following them. Aeran had the feeling that he wanted them to follow him...
He led them to a little native girl...
"Don't be afraid." said Maya as he approached her. "This eagle led us to you, and we aren't going to hurt you. What are you doing out here all alone?"
She had been crying, and wiped her tears. "I'm lost. I can't find my mother. All the people in our village were moving to our summer berry-picking grounds, and I followed a deer into the forest, and then couldn't find my way back. I want my mother. I've been looking for her for a long time, and can't find her anywhere."
Aeran and Maya wanted to help the little girl and reunite her with her mother, but Kyle wasn't too keen on interrupting their quest.
"We can't just leave her here." insisted Maya.
"We can't just leave her here." insisted Maya.
Aeran decided that they could spare the time to help the little girl. It was the right thing to do.
