Every now and then when her group found themselves in a village, Aeran would write a letter home to her grandfather. She would update him on her progress, or lack thereof, and tell him how much she missed him. While Aeran was writing home, Kyle took the opportunity to talk to some of the locals.... ..to see if he could learn anything new... ... about the possible whereabouts of the jewel they were looking for.... Maya, who was starting to feel like a 'third wheel' as Kyle and Aeran started becoming closer, went to talk to Narin and Adrian. After all, he was originally from their 'servant class' himself. When Aeran had finished her letter.... ... she sealed it and handed it to the serving girl. "Could you please make sure this goes out with the mail courier next time he passes through?" "Yes, of course Miss." "It may take a little while though. He just comes by every month or so, and he was just here last week. But I'll make sure he gets it."

Receiving a letter in olden times must have been truly a wonderful experience and almost a miracle given how long it took letters to travel to their destinations. I am sure her grandfather is hoping to hear of her progress.

Mail was definitely not as fast or reliable in the olden days. But then, they didn't have postal strikes either, like we currently have. So, forget the 'fast and reliable'.
