An Autumn Balloon Adventure
Flying High
Avery and Emily had been invited along on the dragon's fall adventure. But because the twins could not fly, the dragons had built a hot air balloon for them to travel in. So, after packing everything into the balloon basket, and giving the twins some initial flying instructions, they all took off.
The dragons had given Avery a map so they could all meet up in the same place in case they got separated.
They flew over the mountain landscape...
...watching out for, and following their friends.
"Look! Down there!"
"Looks like they are waiting for us over there."
And they descended to join their friends...
Take Out in the Woods
When Avery and Emily arrived, it was time for some lunch. Winston had flown ahead to pick up some fast food.
Emily and Avery joined their friends at the picnic table...
"I hope you all enjoy this, because there won't be any more fast food up in the wilderness."
Winston was studying the map...
While the children enjoyed their lunch.
"After lunch we will start to head further north, and I think from now on we all need to fly together."
Into the Wilderness
The dragons and the twins headed north together....
It was late in the autumn and most of the trees were already bare, but it was still beautiful...
The dragons flew alongside Emily and Avery in their balloon.
The four little dragons also flew alongside...
..but they didn't have the same stamina as their parents, so they took turns resting in the balloon with the twins...
Disaster!
Avery, Emily and the dragons were enjoying their flight up along the shore of Lake Superior, when Winston suggested it was getting to be time to stop for dinner.
So they directed their balloon to head to shore...
...and look for a good place to land.
But a sudden gust of wind sent them into the trees.
Their balloon burst...
...leaving the basket hanging precariously in the branches.
"Don't worry. Saphira and I will get you down."
"Just try not to move around too much for now."
Sunset on the Beach
The dragons rescued Emily and Avery out of the tree, but the sun was already starting to go down by the time they managed to untangle the basket out of the branches and bring it out on the beach...
"So what are we going to do now that the balloon is broken?"
Saphira pulled out another red balloon. "Well, it's a good thing I brought extras."
And she proceeded to blow it up....
"Now can continue with our trip tomorrow."
"I think we need to celebrate that no one got hurt, and that we have a new balloon, and we can continue with our adventure tomorrow," and Winston started handing out ice cream.
Then they all sat down to watch the sun set.
"Yes, tomorrow will be another day...."
