Babies

A collection of photos of my smallest children and babies.

Getting Ahead of Myself

In the world of doll photography some photos come about as a result of a sudden inspiration, but most take some planning.  Like Baron and Naomi's wedding, which will take place at some point later this year. But I'm actually planning even further ahead, to when the two of them will have some children.

So I purchased a set of twins from Junkyspot last month. A little boy and a little girl; Myou Du Du and Feng Linger (who will definitely need new names). They are a little bigger than baby Sena, so too big to be 'babies', but are the perfect size to be toddlers.  When they arrived I thought I'd check them out size-wise with their future Mom....

The twins are about the scale of a one-year old toddler....

Junkyspot also sent a free gift of a little Hujoo baby along with the two Myou children. It's the right size for a baby, but doesn't really work aesthetic-wise. She'd work much better as a Fairy baby....

So I gave the baby some eyes, and borrowed some of Sena's clothes to see if they would fit the three of them, and they did, although everything was a bit too short for the twins, and way too big for the baby.  I also borrowed a wig destined for someone else, just to see how it would look on the little girl.  Then took some photos of the three of them....

I've decided to name the twins Fiona and Ian...

The twins will need both Medieval and contemporary outfits, as well as wigs, but I put them back in their boxes, since I'm nowhere near ready to tackle either just yet.  I have plenty of time since their future parents aren't even married, or expecting yet. At least not as far as I know.

Tiny Wigs

I made some hard cap wigs for the twins, and took a photo before I tamed the mohair...

Playtime

With their new wigs, I thought they might enjoy some play time, so got out a bunch of toys for them....

Fiona and Sena liked the dolls and teddies....

Porcelain Babies

I'm planning WAY ahead again, to when Baron and Naomi will become parents.  I'd been looking around for two newborn looking babies to be their twins.  Then my sister suggested using the porcelain Kaiser babies the two of us painted at a porcelain doll class many years ago. She said I could have her's.
But they were rather pale and lifeless looking, so I used acrylics to brighten mine up...

I was working on some new tops for Rex and Jude at the time, and Rex insisted on holding my baby the whole time he was standing in my workspace. Even Jude was captivated by the baby...
Picture
I'm thinking that Rex might just have to talk to Bianca about having another baby...

One before painting, and the other after...
Picture
I embellished one of the existing white baby gowns to more or less match the one mine wears, so the second baby could wear it...

I used one of the babies to be Kassia as a baby in my White Cat Sequel

Then in the fall, I came across a wooden cradle at a doll show.  First I thought it was way too long and out of scale, but then I thought it could work as a bed for twins, with one at each end. So Jan cut some wooden trim to make the foot end match the head end, and I painted it to match.
Picture
Then I made a second set of baby bedding to match the first set from my other cradle. And we figured out a way to make the lace drape work. Then I had their future Mom pose with the cradle to see how it would look....

Then I decided to make a new crocheted afghan blanket, replacing the white with pale blue...
