The continuing story of my Victorian family
First Time Babysitting
Iris and Steve hadn't been able to go out anywhere together, just the two of them, since Baby Sena arrived. So one nice afternoon she decided she'd like to go out for a little walk to get some fresh air, without the kids.
Lisa had seemed able enough to handle the baby, and she had her friend Peach over to help, so it seemed like a good opportunity....

"I just put Sena down for her nap, so she should sleep for at least an hour or two...."
That's fine Mom. I've looked after her many times before when you were busy."
"We won't be gone long...."
"We'll be fine Mom..."
"Just go...."
the Sleeping Baby
Baby Sena was sound asleep....
Peach kept going over to check on her....
"This is really boring! Does she ever do anything other than sleep??"
"Yes, but she'll wake up when she's ready. Just go find something to do. There's lots of interesting books over on the shelves..."
Waking Sena
Peach, who was an only child, had no idea what 'babysitting' actually meant. She had imagined a pleasant afternoon playing with a happy, bouncing baby, and was getting rather fed up with just standing around while Baby Sena slept....
Lisa was experienced, so was quietly reading her book....
"I thought we'd be able to play with her, but all she does is sleep!"
Being rather anxious to play with the baby, Peach decided to take matters into her own hands.....
....and reached into the cradle and lifted out the sleeping baby....who immediately started to scream......."WAAAAAAAAH!!!!"
"Hey! What are you doing!?!?" "WAAAAAAAAA!!!!"
"You can't just wake her up like that!!"
"WAAAAAAAA!!!!!" "Help! What do I do now??" "WAAAH!!"
A Walk in the Park
Meanwhile Steve and Iris were taking a leisurely walk through the park....
"It's so nice that Lisa can watch Sena for a bit so we can have a little time together...."
"It's so nice to be alone, just the two of us..."
Suddenly remembering they were in a public place, Iris quickly adjusted her hat....
...and they continued on their walk....
at Home
Meanwhile, back at home, Peach had rudely wakened baby Sena who was screaming loudly.......'WAAAHHHH!!!!'
"That was a really dumb thing to do!!"
"That was a really dumb thing to do!!"
"Here, give her to me..."
Lisa sat down with Sena in the rocking chair.... 'WAAAH.....Waaaaahhhh....'
"It's okay little one. Peach didn't mean anything. Just go back to sleep...."
"It's okay little one. Peach didn't mean anything. Just go back to sleep...."
'Waaahhh.....waaaah......sob....'
"I'm sorry. I just wanted to play with her...."
"I'm sorry. I just wanted to play with her...."
"Well, you can only play with a baby when they want to, and you sure don't ever wake one up!"
"There, there, just go back to sleep..."
"There, there, just go back to sleep..."
Soon Sena was back asleep, and Lisa tucked her back in her bed....
"And here's your little teddy..."
Just then, iris came back into the room....
Peach was mortified, and hoped Lisa's Mom had not heard any of the screaming.....
"How did it go, girls? Any problems??"
"No Ma'm...."
"It was fine Mom..."
Iris' instincts were telling her the girls were hiding something...
..but Sena was sound asleep and seemed to be fine, so she let it go....
"Phew, that was close!"
