FIDs Everyday 3
More photos featuring my Fashion size dolls...
Introducing Naomi
My newest Fashion size doll arrived on May 27th. She's Naomi, 45 Aphrodite, by SartoriaJ, in Peach Cream, with Dew bust, Pose elbow, and default makeup.
I put her into the pink sari gown every new girl wears when they first arrive, and then tried on all the wigs her size. Right now I'm liking this one. Although it was rather windy so the super fine hairs were blowing all over the place....
She's from the same company as my Jude, although they will not be a couple.
Three Ladies
I took some comparison photos of Naomi, my newest Fashion sized doll, with two of my FID ladies in order to show the difference in resin colours. Bianca, on the left, is Iple's Special Real Skin, Naomi is SJ Peach Cream, and Yvette is Iple’s Normal....
Naomi is definitely warmer than Iple's Normal. I did compare Naomi's hands with Yvettes, and they are a close match, but Yvette's hands have been blushed, and Naomi's have not., so after blushing they'd become darker. I don't have any IH Peach/Gold dolls so can't say how she compares to that, but my guess would be that she's lighter.
Naomi has wider hips than my Iplehouse ladies, but all my Fashion sized costumes are either high or low waisted Fantasy gowns, so it doesn't matter, and they fit her just fine.
SartoriaJ doesn't sculpt the protruding nipples on their ladies, so they won't stand out through thin stretchy clothes like the Iple ladies. Not that I have any clothes like that for her anyways.
I got her with the 'Pose Elbows' which means her arms can swivel at the elbow joint, allowing for more natural posing possibilities.
I had to remove her hands in order to get the tight elastic bands, that hold up her hanging sleeves, on the upper arms, and SJ conveniently included 'dressing balls'. They were really easy to switch out since the 'S' hook on her hands is very long, and the end on the elastic into her arms is pinched shut so it won't pop off.
I also changed her feet to the high heel ones, and she also has the elongated 'S' hooks there, making it very easy to switch feet. However her high heel feet are very high, and it was hard to find shoes that worked.

Naomi & Baron
It was always my intent that these two would become a couple...
Miho's New Gown
Well, I finally finished Miho's new gown. It took me three weeks of constant redoing, and it ended up quite different from what I had originally envisioned, but It's finally done....
I had envisioned a stand-up collar of flower petals around her neckline, to match the petals on the under skirt, but after struggling with it and picking it off four times, I finally realized the dress only wanted a simple row of small flowers. And of course I didn't have any the right colour, so had to stain some white ones with diluted, purple metallic paint.
I had thought to use the same trim for her waistband that I used on the front edges of her underskirt, but that didn't look good either, so I ended up with a trim that had the colours reversed, with black spots in the middle of gold trim.

I think I need to make her a wig. I tried all the ones her size that I have, and none really looked right. The Paige wig she had been wearing made her look too old, like she was Monica's Mother, which wasn't the look I was after. My favourite was a long wavy one, but it was pale blonde, and she isn't a blonde. So for now she has a long straight dark brown.
Once she gets a better wig - in dark brown with streaks of purple - I will figure out what she needs on her head. Right now she has a simple circlet made of beaded gold trim.
I was going to make a beaded necklace, but found this one in my BJD jewelry box...

She also needs some wings. I looked through several boxes of fabric, but I don't have anything suitable, so I'm going to wait until the stores open up again and I can go look in person. So for now her gown is considered done...
A New Wig
Work on Miho continues to progress. I made her a wig...
It's the first time I tried making a two-tone wig, using dark brown and purple mohair. It's interesting that the camera really highlights the difference in colour, since in real life they blend in together much more...
It still needs a bit of styling, but I'll wait a bit before I attempt that.I also haven't decided on a headdress. I saved a picture of one that I'd like to make, but I'm not sure that I can.
Naomi's New Wig
I made Naomi a wig out of mohair, the same colour as her plain Monique wig....
