Rex & Bianca's Newfoundland Adventure - Part 2

Trinity

The next day we were back on the main island, and drove to Trinity. It's a beautiful old English town, with the original settlement dating back to the 16th century. Many old buildings are 'Newfoundland Heritage Structures', and it's like a visit back in time...

...and we encountered Rex and Bianca on the dock. They had a huge trunk with them.  So were they coming or going?
Picture
Had they just arrived and were purchasing a horse? Or were they leaving, and saying 'good-bye'?

But I couldn't go any further with their story because of the wind.  It was blowing so strong, that even with their bases weighed down with rocks, they kept blowing over, and Buck was blown right off the stage, and landed head first on the stones of the beach.
"Are you okay, Buck?"

Riding the Clifftops

Next morning at Cape Bonavista, hazy clouds had moved in to create the perfect lighting for some photos of Rex and Bianca.
These were some of my favourite photos of the entire trip.....

A Walk on the Beach

We had checked the forecast for the next few days, then had to alter out travel plans again, so headed up the peninsula between Trinity and Conception Bays. There, beyond New Melbourne, we spotted another small iceberg....
Picture
Much of Newfoundland has a rocky shoreline, but every once in a while there's actually a sand beach, and there was just such a beach at Brownsdale, and we stopped there to get a better look at the iceberg. So, out came Rex and Bianca for a walk on the beach with their horses....

Signal Hill

The next day, in St. John's, we went to Signal Hill with one of Newfoundlands' most iconic landmarks - the Cabot Tower.

I had thought the Cabot Tower and some of the other buildings would make a great background for Rex, but it was rather busy, and I was starting to feel a bit self conscious. But then two limousines pulled up into the parking lot, and out spilled a group of young people obviously come to take some photos of themselves before their Prom. I figured all the young ladies in their elaborate gowns were all the distraction I needed, which made me feel a bit less nervous about taking Rex out in public....

Sometimes I'd have to wait for a bit for other people to move out of the background...

But I managed some photos of Rex with no people in behind....

...and then some more with another fortification building....

A Dinghy in the Rain

It had been raining on and off all day, as we arrived in the town of Ferryland, which is the site of a major archeological dig. There was also a display with some miniature boats (bigger ones) Always on the lookout for some new way to photograph my dolls, I thought one of them might just work for Rex and Bianca. So I dressed them for the weather, and brought a towel to dry off the seat. Rex picked up the one 'oar' (I guess he knew what he was doing)....

..... while Bianca sat down in the back.....

The houses in the background looked sufficiently old enough, but I had to be careful there weren't any cars going by. Then I had to Photoshop out the display area floor, and replace it with 'water'....
