Autumn Balloon Adventure - continued
Lunch at the Waterfalls
Next morning it was gloomy and overcast as Avery, Emily and the dragons headed north again.
Around midday they came across a huge waterfall...
Around midday they came across a huge waterfall...
They circled around a few times in order to get a really good look....
Winston suggested that it was a great place to stop for lunch, so they needed to land the balloon....
It was such a beautiful, scenic spot to have a meal....
...and Winston did his best to make everyone's favourites...
"You make the very best coffee, dear."
the Far North
The dragons and the twins continued north along the shore of Lake Superior, which is the largest fresh-water lake in the world.
The twins were starting to get a bit restless, crammed in the balloon basket.
Saphira suggested they all stop for a rest.
"I know the perfect spot," said Winston. "It's over that way."
So they followed him...
"It's over there...in White River..."
White River was where Winnie the Pooh came from, and there was a park with a statue of him, and Winston thought the twins would enjoy seeing it.
Yes, they loved Winnie the Pooh, and posed for a photo with him....
Camping
The dragons decided to take a break and just relax around the campsite for a few days.
Winston had his maps out to make plans where to go next.
"Anyone want to go for a hike in the woods?"
"We do!!"
'We do too!"
"Well, just be careful, and stay together."
A Hike in the Woods
Moving On
When the children returned to camp, Winston wanted everyone to pose for a group photo...
...and then it was time to pack up and move on.
The balloon basket had magical properties, and was a lot bigger inside than it looked.
All their toys, food, and camping gear fit nicely inside...
"I think we are almost ready to move on..."
Saphira to the Rescue
The sky cleared, as they headed south.
It was such a lovely day, and the fall colours were spectacular....
Emily wanted to show her Teddy...
"Look how beautiful it is here!"
Suddenly there was a strong gust of wind, and Emily lost hold of her bear....
She and Avery watched him fall...
"Teddy!!"
And he landed on the ground far below....
"He's way down there!"
Saphira had seen Teddy fall, and swooped down to pick him up. "Here you go."
Emily hugged her bear....
"You better hold onto him a little tighter."
"And keep him inside the basket."
Another Burst Balloon
All the unexpected wind gusts that had caused Emily to lose a grip on her Teddy, had caused a strain on the balloon, and it burst.
Winston was getting concerned. "There's not many balloons left."
"No, there's just two more left for the trip home. We are going to have to be extra careful with these."
"But no one was hurt, and that's the most important thing."
Then Saphira sent the children off to play, so she and Winston could have some time together, just the two of them...
"It's been a fun trip, but it's so much busier than when it was just the two of us."
One Last Sunset
Later that evening after dinner, the tent had been set up, and a new balloon blown up.
and everyone gathered to watch the sun set one last time.
and everyone gathered to watch the sun set one last time.
They all agreed it had been a wonderful trip,
and they were looking forward to going back home tomorrow....
"Good night, everyone!"
