It was time to get out all the lanterns....
The little caravan of adventurers continued on their journey as the sun was going down.... Everyone was getting very tired.... "It's just a little further...." "We are almost there...." The sun sank below the distant horizon, and it was getting darker... It was time to get out all the lanterns.... "Not much further now. And there will be just enough light left to set up camp..."

After that heavy slog through the woods, all the ladies decided they needed some freshening up, so they went looking for a good spot for a swim.... "Look's a good spot over there!" "Okay, let's go..." So off they went.... Then, to give them some privacy, I put my camera down.
'That was so refreshing!!" The little troupe of adventurers packed up everything and headed off to find a new camp spot... Willie led the way....while Rhett Fox pulled the small cart.... Smuzhka Raccoon pulled the big cart....while some mice carried oars..... Winston carried the second boat over his head.... ...and Mr. Ropuha dragged his cooler......while someone hitched a ride.... ...and Kitty followed in the rear...
Rachel also brought her panda, so I needed to come up with some ways to include it. First a few static poses with her doll.... Then trying to be a bit more creative....."Want to be my friend??" Rachel had brought along the lace party dress I'd made for her last birthday. So we had to come up with a 'party' scenario. My Victorian room is still sitting on my dining room table, so that made a good interior setting. Then Rachel chose a new painting to go over the fireplace, and a cake.... Her friend came to join her.... She liked all the baby dolls too.... Then her new Panda arrived, and noticed the panda on her cake....
Our three granddaughters (who live nearby) still come every Saturday morning. Two of them brought a doll, and wanted me to take photos with them. Having just started a whole new school year, they wanted some with a 'school' theme. So Rachel and I took the dolls, some backpacks, and books and headed down the street to the school her Dad went to when he was little.... Then back home, we set up an interior 'classroom' scene.....or a library....
Next morning, everyone was busy helping take down their camp, getting ready to move on... "Make sure everything is tied down securely..." Winston picked up the second boat, and raised it over his head...... ....and started on his way....
It was the first night up at Kilarney, and Kitty Fox was looking forward to the first sunset... Willie wanted to watch too.... So everyone came over to watch the sun go down....(taken with filtered flash) ...and without flash....
When I was packing any props I thought might come in useful on a trip up north, I took along my 'feather Monarch butterflies' and butterfly nets, thinking that might be a fun activity. But that was before I had the experience of seeing so many real ones.
I decided butterflies deserved more respect than to be chased with nets, so gave up that idea. Instead, I had Willie and Winston wishing them 'Bon Voyage' on their migration to Mexico..... I spent much of my time up north working on the beading for two upcoming doll costumes. They are inspired by Bianca's pink gown, but will have just one jewelled skirt layer, because the designs were way too big, and so they will be for the larger dolls.
I managed to come up with some kind of complimentary embroidery and beading design for the bodices, and finished one. The second one is almost done as well.... |
