The kids were watching as the horses came closer.... "Maybe they think we have something for them to eat." " Anyone still have their apples from lunch?" "I do!" said David and took out his apple.... "Me too!" said Ringo, who seemed surprisingly brave all of a sudden.... "I still have half my apple left..." So they offered their apples to the horses... ...while Paige just watched, and took photos....

Jump forward to present day, and the kids were on the same beach in Burgeo.... "Hey, look down there!!" "There's horses on the beach down there!" "I wonder if they are wild horses?" "Looks like they are coming towards us!" "I hope they don't bite!!"
Bianca had brought along some apples as a treat for the horses.... "Here you go..." Morgan noticed.... ...and wanted one too.... "I saved this one for you..."
Whenever we are in Newfoundland, we like to take the drive through the wilderness to the town of Burgeo. It's very remote, on the south coast. There's a provincial park there with a beautiful sand beach. And who should we spot riding there, but Rex and Bianca..... *and Jan's photo of them..... This photo is a prime example of why I shoot everything in RAW instead of the regular jpg format like most people's cameras do (including Jan's). With the figures back-lit on a bright sunny day, as in this photo shoot, they appear mostly just black. In many places it's possible to just move a little, and shoot the dolls from a different angle, so there aren't so many harsh black shadows, but on that beach there was no other option.
When I shoot in RAW the images still look very dark at first, but at least they can be fixed in Photoshop. Bianca was laying out a picnic... ..while Rex was taking in the scenery... "This is one gorgeous place!" "Come, sit down..." "...lunch is ready...." After a wonderful picnic..... ....it was time to just relax....
Jan's main role, other than helping me lug all the dolls and props out on location, is to shade the dolls from the sun, when I'm setting up, and between photos. So he took a photo of his view...
I gave into temptation and ordered the new FID guy, Baron this morning... This is actually a photo of the HID size Baron, but I prefer his promo photos, although the FID version facial hair will be a little different. I see him as some kind of historical or fantasy king or knight, or maybe a brother to Rex. But who knows, maybe he'll have other ideas? They often do... I've ordered him in Real Skin, with their company faceup, on the Model body like Rex. I've decided that their Muscle body is just too big. My Lawrence has it, but there was no other choice when he was introduced way back at the very beginning. I also ordered some extra hands for him, so he can hold a sword or gun, and I got him some tall black boots, so he'll be all set to go on some adventure (as soon as I make him an outfit) Maybe I'll finally be able to use some of the chain mail I've been saving?
Anyways, while I was at it, I also ordered a pair of Fantasy FID hands for Monica, to replace the lame Raccoon ones, and some 'holdy' hands for Bianca. They would have been very 'handy' on our recent trip, so I'm trying to plan ahead.... Rex and Bianca took the trail through the woods to the lookout... But it was quite far, and Bianca needed a rest.. "How about over there?" There was a log to sit down on... ...but it was just Jan, distracted trying to photograph a squirrel up in the tree....
My Lawrence FID finally has a faceup again.... Charie redid him, and today I thought I'd try my hand at some enhancements... I know my enhancements aren't permanent, since I didn't seal what I did, but I really like him like this. The auburn wig I made for him way back at the beginning even works. One thing though - he decided he was not a bow-tie kind of guy. Only a casual open shirt will do. And of course, Monica watching from her shelf in the cabinet, decided he was for her... I guess we'll see what he has to say about it....
