She painted that one many years ago, back in art school.
Last week my sister presented me with another small pallet knife painting. It was a 'Thank You' gift for shooting her gnomes. I found an old frame at Value Village, which Jan cut down to size.. It's a flipped variation of the peacock painting that hangs above our real life fireplace. She painted that one many years ago, back in art school. So now one of my doll families will have it hanging above their fireplace too... The room on a sunny afternoon....
I intended to take these pictures for Lincoln's birthday, which was last week on February 12th, but I was late, and considering that Presidents Day in the USA is to honour both George Washington, whose birthday is on the 22nd, as well as Lincoln, they are getting posted today.... Coco finishing a cabin he's making out of his Lincoln Logs set.... "All done!!"
It was time for another game - Musical Chairs - one that would get everyone up and moving. All the chairs were arranged in two rows back to back, with one less chair than participants. Narae was in charge of the music, and everyone else had to march around the chairs, and whenever she stopped the music, they had to sit on a chair as fast as possible. The person left standing would be out. Each time someone was out, another chair would be removed until there were just one chair and two people left for the final round.... ....even Winston participated..... Round and round they marched.... Narae kept her back to the others, so she couldn't 'cheat' and try control the results... When she turned down the music, everyone got a seat...except Nami... "Okay, I'm the first one out.." ...and she went and took a seat on the sofa.... ...and Winston removed one of the chairs....
My Santa/Wizard guy is in need of a proper name. Right now he's hosting Winston's party, but he's neither in his 'Santa' or 'Wizard' role. He needs a proper name that works for both. I've been struggling over it ever since I made him. I've had suggestions to call him 'Nicholas the Good' as a Wizard, and 'Nick' when he's Santa. But I'm terrible with names, and can't get past the fact one of my sons is named Nicholas. And another is named Christopher, so that rules out 'Chris' as in 'Kris Kringle' as well. So I've been googling all kinds of name lists. I'm down to four possible names; Merlin, Klaus, Kriss, or Arthur....
Well, all this time that we've been distracted by Valentine's Day, Winston's party was still going on. However the Pin-the-Tail-on-the Donkey game was not going well. No one had won yet.... Finally it was Effie's turn.... You'd think that with all those other pins up there it wouldn't be so hard to figure out... But no.... "Okay, I didn't get it either!" "Well I guess no one won..." "Kind of a dumb game, if there's not even a winner."
I've just added four more pdfs to the Just Patterns file. Over the years I've had a lot of requests for the fairy bodice pattern that goes with the wings and Fairy skirts that are already in the Pattern Section. Well, here they are. Now you can make the entire fairy costume - both the standard one, as well as the Winter Fairy variation that laces up the back. Note, that the bodices will also fit the original Kaye Wiggs MSD body, although the arm-warmers will be too narrow. And then there's the basic EID bodice, perfect for ballgowns and other fancy dresses. Or even just on its own as a corset. And then there's a cute BID Halloween costume as well..... Go to Just Patterns in the Tutorials section to download the pdfs...
...and happy sewing!! A few more photos from Valentine's Day. First, three little girls with their valentines... "This one is my favourite, Mom..." "My Dad said we could each have one of his chocolates..." "Which one should I take?" "One of the girls in my class gave me this Valentine..." "Do you think that means she likes me??"
While his sister and her friends were busy looking at their own Valentines... ...Eric presented his Mom with a box of chocolates and a card....
Everyone knows Winston and Willie are the best of friends, so of course he had to give her something on Valentine's Day.... "Thank you! That is so sweet of you! You are my best friend ever!"
After school, Nyssa has some of her friends over, and they were all excited looking through all the Valentines they had received... "I think this one is my favourite.." "I hope you remember whose is who's......." "Oh yes....I know which ones are mine!"
