Iplekids Everyday 2
A series of photos featuring my smaller Iplehouse dolls and their friends.
the Eclipse
On April 8th much of North America experienced a solar eclipse, and several of my kids were out there taking it in as well...
They had acquired a package of eclipse glasses...
...but they were one short. "Don't look, or you'll go blind."
Everyone stood gazing at the wonder unfolding before them...
Effie was especially excited....
We were in the path of totality, but just as the big event was about to occur, the heavy clouds moved in. Fortunately we were still able to occasionally see the eclipse each time a hole appeared in the clouds.
It got dark as night, and the street lights came on...
Then we watched the dark shadow of the moon pass to the east....
...and the light return to the west...
Taking Kids to Work
April 27 is 'Take Your Sons and Daughters to Work' Day. So Owen, who was the construction company CEO on a large new housing development...
....had arranged for Lonnie and Milo to accompany him on site and do some hands-on work.
Milo was excited to be doing some real construction work...
"Today you'll be helping with framing and maybe even help nail up some drywall."
"A construction site can be a dangerous place, so don't wander off."
"So let's get started."
Archery Day
May 11th is Archery Day, and several kids were out practicing their skills...
All their arrows had hit the bullseye, and Ringo was impressed. "You two are really good."
"Thanks. But hitting this target is really easy..."
"...and not much of a challenge at all."
"I can actually hit an apple at two hundred paces."
Ringo was skeptical, "Really? I'd like to see that!"
"Well, I just happen to have an apple handy."
"Hmmm....Now I just need a place to put it."
"And here's the perfect place."
"Now, hold perfectly still..."
"...and don't move!"
Lonnie became alarmed.
"You aren't really going to try shoot that apple off of his head, are you?"
"Who said anything about 'try'? I never miss."
But then, right at that moment, Jamie's father arrived at the shooting range, and realizing what his son was about to do, he quickly put a stop to his reckless behaviour. "But Dad, I was only fooling. I wasn't really going to do it!"
Train Day
May 14th was National Train Day, and Efreet, who loves trains and happens to live near a major rail line, loves to go out every morning and afternoon at rush hour to watch the GO commuter trains rush by. Every time the lights start flashing, he'll look up the tracks to see which direction the next train is coming from....
Every half hour there would be two trains - one from each direction.
This morning he was in for a special treat...
...when a VIA train came zooming by....
No sooner had it passed, when the lights started flashing and the gates came down for a third time...
...and another GO train came zooming by....
